Priest-In-Charge
Licensing of Revd Kerry Emmett
The Diocese of Leicester decided that the new incumbent to the joint benefice of Mountsorrel Christ Church and Mountsorrel St Peter’s, would not have the Freehold; he would be licensed as Priest-in-Charge, valid for five years.
The joint patrons of the Benefice are
- The Bishop of Leicester, and
- the Church Pastoral Aid Society CPAS
On the evening of Thursday 9th September 2004, Christ Church was the venue for the licensing of the Revd. Kerry Emmett as Priest-in-Charge of the Benefice of Christ Church and St Peter’s, Mountsorrel and the licensing, to the same benefice, of Mrs. Patricia (Tricia) Emmett as Reader, by the Ven. Ian Staines Archdeacon of Loughborough.
Also taking part in the service was the Revd. David Newman as Rural Dean of Akeley East. The Revd. Richard Zair of the Church Pastoral Aid Society presented Kerry to the Archdeacon.
Kerry and Tricia were also welcomed by the Chair of Mountsorrel Parish Council, the Headteacher of the School (Christ Church and St.Peter’s Church of England (Controlled) Primary School, Mountsorrel), The Chair of Mountsorrel Christian Council, the Lay Chair of the Deanery of Akeley East, and the Church Wardens.
The evening concluded with the opportunity to meet Kerry and Tricia over refreshments in the School Hall (Christ Church and St.Peter’s Church of England (Controlled) Primary School, Mountsorrel).
