Twenty plus members of Christ
Church congregation met at St. Mary's Church, Nanpantan on Saturday 17th
November for the Parish Away Day.
The day was entitled 'Love in Action' and
was based on text from Matthew 5 vs. 13-16. We heard a talk by Rev. David
Newman, Team Rector of Emmanuel & St Marys, Loughborough, and explored
through workshops, how we could be salt and light in the various places
we spend our lives, in our homes, with our families, in our workplace and
our Church. We closed the day by all contributing to a time of worship
based on our theme for the day. I am sure many who attended would agree
that this felt very special.
The setting for the day was beautiful in
amongst the trees, this only reminding many of us of the wonder of God's
creation. It was a day for sharing ideas, for fellowship (people have commented
on how lovely it was to talk to people they do not know well) and fun (certainly
we heard lots of laughter) and hopefully everyone was able to take away
something to help them along their journey of faith.
Many thanks to all those who attended and
contributed to the day making it such a success. We pass on thanks also
to David Newman, who started the day with such a thought provoking talk.
We look forward to building on some of our ideas in the future.
