CHURCH ROTAS
We have had an increasing number of problems with our various rotas.
If you are going to be unavailable when you are listed on a rota,
please organise a substitute, and alter the lists at the back of the
church and in the vestry. This will be a help to all concerned.
Thank you. Kerry

Keep Sunday Special
You may be aware that the issue of Sunday trading is back on the Government’s agenda. They are considering extending Sunday trading hours from the current 6 hours to 9 hours. If you feel concerned about such a move, you may wish to read more about it on the Keep Sunday Special website http://www.keepsundayspecial.org.uk/. The website provides the opportunity to sign a petition, and forward an e–card to others to tell them about the petition.
The Keep Sunday Special Campaign has recently produced two
brochures:
- “Something’s changed our way of life” http://www.keepsundayspecial.org.uk/pdf/Somethings_changed.pdf which takes a review of some hard-hitting statistics about the impact that Sunday trading has had.
- “Sunday, Monday: is there a difference?” http://www.keepsundayspecial.org.uk/pdf/Sunday_Monday.pdf is a booklet that considers what the Christian view of Sunday should be.
These brochures can be downloaded from the website or you can
request paper copies from 01223 566319 or

8:32 campaign from the Bible Society
The Bible Society’s have launched a new campaign “8:32” which is a
plea to open our eyes – and our hearts – to Bible poverty. At its root
are language barriers, blindness, illiteracy and people simply being
too poor to own a Bible. Others are Bible–poor because they live in a
sophisticated culture where the Bible is written off as irrelevant.
Bible poverty is robbing millions of the truth that Jesus can set them
free. The Bible Society would like Christians to catch the vision for a
day when the Bible is shaping the lives and communities of people
everywhere. This stark reality of global Bible poverty is a
scandal as great as global poverty, and both break the heart of God.
Further information is available on the Bible Society’s 8:32’s website http://www.its832.org/ or from
Kerry.
Church Diaries
St Peter’s diary is kept at the back of the Church.
Christ Church diary is in the vestry.
Please ensure that you write in any dates and details for the
newsletter or announcements on Sundays.
Worship Group
Would you value being part of a group which shared responsibility for Christ Church services?
The group would help to plan special occasions, festivals, hymns,
music and drama. Ideally we need 4 or 5 people. If you would like
to be involved, contact Rev. Kerry Emmett as soon as possible.
Movement in Worship Group
The group gives occassional displays of worship using dance movements. Please contact Tricia if you are interested in knowing more.
House Groups
- House Group “B” meet weekly on a Thursday evening, usually at a
member’s house. We sing songs, study a bible section, pray then
have refreshments. It’s not heavy and we do have some
laughs. We would welcome anyone who wants to join us and if you
are a new Christian, we are only too happy to go back to basics which
would also benefit the group as a whole too. If interested,
please speak to Julie Williams or Kerry.
- Housegroup meeting monthly at Barleyloft, 33A Hawcliffe
Road.
