News from Gail, December 2005
Gail Phillip, our Link Missionary, has recently been in touch by email, and her new Link Letter should be available soon. Gail works with the Church Mission Society in Bangkok, Thailand. She is Principal of the Rainbowland Child Development Centre, based at Christ Church Bangkok: http://www.christchurchbangkok.org/
Gail tells us that churches in Thailand join together for a 40 day prayer & fast period each year from Nov 1st – Dec 10th. She asks for prayer for all the various Christmas events in Christ Church including hosting Christmas for a local slum community on Dec 17th and an Alpha Christmas Dinner celebration on Christmas Day. Pray that many will attend and that we will have a good number sign up for the new Alpha course starting in January. Gail would also appreciate prayer for the New Believers’ course she is teaching, preparing 11 people for baptism on Dec 18th. She asks: "Please pray for this group that their faith will grow stronger and that they can be well integrated in the church."
Gail finished her email by saying: "Thanks for your continued support. Love to all at Christ Church & St Peter’s. God bless, Gail"
Gail’s visit to Mountsorrel, 14th December 2003
Gail came to visit us for our Joint Service at Christ Church on 14th December 2003. She gave a talk on her work in Bangkok, and there was an offering to help support CMS financially.
After the service, there was a bring & share lunch at the Methodist Hall on Church Hill Road. We really appreciate the hospitality of people at the Methodist Church, who even provided homemade soup for the occasion!
At the lunch, there was an opportunity to talk to gail, and watch a video of her work in Thailand. Rev. Ruth Lambert (Curate) also presented Gail with a gift from Christ Church. It was a picture mounted in a frame, of the stained glass windows in the chancel of Christ Church, by a member of the congregation.
