On Easter Monday, a group of nine
adults and two children from Christ Church and Saint Peter's started out
on a countryside walk.
We
started at Mountsorrel, and walked along the River Soar to Rothley, where
the children headed home with their parents. The rest of of us headed on
through Rothley, Swithland, Quorn and Barrow-upon-Soar, before returning
to Mountsorrel. We covered around 14 miles in total.

The
weather was sunny, but cool, ideal for walking, and had some great views
of the Soar Valley and Charnwood countryside. The views of Charnwood forest
and Bradgate from Swithland were particularly good, as very little urban
development was evident. It was also a pleasure to see the steam trains
heading up and down the Great Central lines on Easter Monday.
